Bead Journal Project - September 2008

I have my idea for the first month. It hit me when I was driving home today for certain. I work in a very urban area - downtown Detroit. But as I was entering the expressway to come home, I saw a hawk/falcon sitting on the lightpost over the road. OMG! It was such a clear sign - and ties in perfectly with the square that I started on Monday and should have done for October.
Here's my September square and yes, I am going to sign this year's pieces as I complete them. As artists, we don't give ourselves enough credit and my co-worker Kathy actually fussed at me and told me that I need to start "autographing" or signing my embroidery. The first piece that I did was the Korean Dragon.

Very cool:) I occasionally see falcons around here (Grand Rapids), but not often enough. I love the puzzle piece idea. I can't wait to see the finished piece!

Thanks Summer - if I was really good I could tell you what kind of a hawk or falcon it was. But I am a city girl.

The puzzle pieces are going to be interesting once completed because with the beading they won't fit together, but I have an idea for that......

I love the whole idea of signing your work. Oh, do you mind if I do mine for the BJP too? I'd not thought of doing that! Not sure why not, just hadn't. What a good reminder!

Not fitting together when done is why I abandoned this idea. I'd sure like to see how you get them together. Then maybe for 09BJP I can do this style.

I think I've settled on 1/2 ATC size. I was thinking of going as small as Robin did in her small rectangles in her new book but kept thinking that was probably too small even though I really like small.

Good to see you are ready. I am getting there.

Silver lined Rainbow Bead sounds like a good name to me. I'm beginning to think mine fits me - little plain Jane chevron bead that I am.
